To play a color solo, a player must have at least 5 color cards. This announcement must be made as soon as possible and a subsequent increase is not possible.
In the color solo, a single player (the caller) plays against the other three players and must reach at least 45 points to win. A special feature of the color solo is that the tarock cards in this game do not count as trump cards. Instead, they only count against each other, while the color cards trump. The caller must have at least five color cards to be allowed to call a color solo.
There are strict rules, such as the suit requirement, which states that the player must always play a card of the required suit if he still has one in his hand. In addition, there are only a few bonuses in the suit solo, such as Valat and „4 Kings,“ while bonuses such as Pagat Ultimo, Trull and Moon Catching are not counted. The suit solo is a demanding bid and requires strategic play to be successful.
